A microscopically thin metallic coating is baked onto one or more surfaces of the glass panes. This coating reflects most heat in the form of infrared radiation back inside during winter and outside during summer, while allowing most visible light to pass through.
Two or more glass panes are combined to form a sealed hollow chamber, serving as a thermal buffer between the inner and outer panes. This design reduces direct heat transfer through the glazing and helps prevent condensation and ice build-up. Triple-pane glazing is also available on select models. .
Argon is used to replace the air between the glass panes in a thermal glass unit. This inert, odorless gas is denser than air, which reduces convection between the layers of glass and minimizes heat loss through the insulated unit. Additionally, it displaces water vapor to prevent condensation between the panes.
